Okay, even though the page isn't finished yet, Jannsboy has posted about half of the cage story on the Media Page. I have re-watched the first half and it makes me wonder:
Could Olson have handled the cage story like Lindell did? Because, I love them both, and I really wanted Olson to be there when Jan revealed herself to Shawn, but there were certain lines I think Lindell said just right that Olson couldn't have.
Like when Lindell said to Shawn "I'm back!" how she said it was just right, and I am not trying to say Olson is a bad actress or anything, but I don't think she could have said it just in the right way like Lindell did. However, there were certain lines I think Olson might have been able to handle better than Lindell, but I'm not trying to say Lindell is a bad actress either.
Olson would have looked pretty cute in that nurses outfit.....but not the Carmen Sandiago outift IMO, lol.
So, what are your opinions on this? Could Olson have done as good if not better as Lindell in the Cage story?

We probably all agree with 'daysfan' as to just how good both the Heathers were in their roles but I think Olsons personality was too reserved for the Cage episodes, whereas Lindell never lost that 'spark' even when things weren't going so well for her. I would have given millions (not that I have them) to have been the guy tied to the bed in that series and I would have made sure myself that those handcuffs used were made of casehardened steel.Aussie

Well, since I'm pretty much Heather Olson's #1 fan (not Heather Lindell's...maybe I'm inthe top 10), then of course I would've loved to have seen her!!
They both had very different interperetations of the character.
Lindell, who had never seen an episode of "Days" in her life and had no idea who Jan was, went by what her grandmother (who loved "Days") told her-- Jan was crazy. So Lindell played the best psycho that she could-- which was great and very entertaining. She freaked out easily, was very giggly, and was overall pretty positive in the whole cage storyline.
Olson, on the other hand, who knew all about Jan's history and what led up to the psychotic breakdown, would've probably played Jan differently during the cage story. I think she would have said "I'm back" in a more happy tone than the sly tone that Lindell used, as she had been fantasizing about that moment for months. But also, Olson tended to play a more sad and angry Jan. I suspect she would've acted as though her heart was really broken everytime Shawn spoke of Belle. Olson also could've definately pulled off all the outfits that Lindell wore, IMO.
Great idea for a thread, daysfan!

Thank you! I really love both of your opinions, and agree with both in a way.
Jannsboy, I think you are definately on to something with Lindell. Not that she was bad, and she did give Jan some emotions, but I noticed with her it was different than Olson. She was more of a lunatic than ever and more of a cartoon but she made Jan likeable as a complete cartoon.
However, probably some of the blame for Lindell's changing Jan should be put on JER. Because, I am merely speculating but I think he saw that Lindell could play exactly what he wanted so he went for it. You'll notice that alot of actors and actresses have seriously improved since Hogan took over on Days, it goes to show alot goes on the writing. I love Jan, but I feel bad for Lindell because she was not used to her full extent. Olson might not have even as well.
Olson would have played Jan very differently and possibly shwn a little more emotion in the cage. You'll notice through the Cage Story Lindell didn't get very much sadness into Jan, as to where Olson alot of the time showed us worry and sadness, she barely even ever showed us happy.
Olson would have probably showed alot of sadness when Shawn said stuff like "I love Belle.", as to where Lindell would get mad and tell Shawn to never mention Belle's name in that house.
